It's Rep. Maxine Waters

Wish you hadn't gotten my hopes up with Gore, But Maxine Waters is a major "get" as well, in Los Angeles.

After all, HRC and Gore supposedly didn't get along during the Clinton presidency. Gore was vigorously against the war before it began. Why would Gore sully his reputation by getting involved in a primary fight instead of appearing above the fray as a Nobel peace prize winner?

I don't know. It's just a feeling I have. I could be really wrong about it though. We'll find out soon enough....

This is major considering the potent media narrative that the national black Establishment is supporting Obama....

It's a nice endorsement. Not sure it qualifies as a major one, but with Gov Rendell and the NY Times last week and the Nurses Union and Waters this week Hillary is picking up a steady stream of support. I think in Califonia this one is fairly substantial.

Maxine Waters was one of the true heroes of the Ned Lamont campaign.  She worked really hard for Ned.

Does this mean Maxine Waters has become a warmongering neocon enabler now?

One of the most progressive anti-war members of Congress endorsing the candidate her supporters are threatening not to vote for...imagine that.

I love this endorsement.

I can tell you from 1st hand experience,

Maxine Waters has credibility in the black community.  

That she chose Hillary over Obama is a big deal.

Honestly, I suspect some payola. But I don't care.

Maxine Waters?  The woman who was voted one of the the most corrupt members of Congress in 2005 and 2006 by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington?  That Maxine Waters?  Well at least she'll feel right at home with the Clintons.

that I doubt Obama would even want her endorsement. Next thing you know an anonymous Clinton staffer would mention how now Obama is the gangsta rap/Tupac South Central candidate.

That being said it's a good pickup for HRC as it may help to defuse some of the tensions that apparently exist w/ the AA community after SC. Even though she is somewhat corrupt, Maxine is very well respected in the community, especially because of her fighting on crime/justice issues.

Maxine is awesome.

I'm an endorsement sceptic probably because if the pope endorsed Bush I'd still think he's a jerk, but for those who get their rocks off on this sort of stuff she's probably a useful little check within CA and to a limited degree in wider aa community.

I remember when I was eight or nine years old in 1991 watching the Rodney King riots on t.v.

CNN showed Maxine Waters, a member of Congress, in her district listening to her constituents complain about not having the basic living amenities because everyone was fearful of going to South Central L.A.

Maxine went to South Central, listened to her constituents, found out what they needed, and got it to them.

Much like Zeitgeist9000 said above, "Maxine Waters will smack you down, bruh."

That lady does not play.  If she sees something wrong, not only will she speak out about it, she'll also do something about.

There are some politicians that are NATO; No Action, Talk Only.  Not Maxine Waters though.

Maxine Waters is all talk and all action.
